"If you want to make everyone happy, Sell Ice Cream. Don't be a leader" -Said by Steve Jobs
Similarly, if you try to sell your Product / Service to everyone, you will lose the reason that compelled you to start your new venture.

Hello, readers, welcome to my blog. Today I bring you why every business person or startups need to create their own customer avatar. There are a lot of people in the world. Think of them as  A Departmental Store. Now, you have a list of items to buy from the store.  That list of items for a departmental store is like a 'Customer Avatar (AKA Buyer Persona)' for your venture. Let's say, you have an online course  ' how to start as a stock market trader' and you try to sell it to people like Warren Buffet or Ray Dalio, you won't be able to make even one sale. Because of the fact that those people probably know better than you about the stock market. Hence, finding the right customer will not only generate sales but also will reduce your marketing costs as well as save some time.

Introduction

Over seven billion people are living on this planet. with access to the internet has become affordable, the number of online users has increased by manyfold. There are over two billion users on Facebook and youtube is observing a massive increase of traffic on their platform. when you're just starting out, you might not be able to attract customers to your site and make any sale. Publishing ads on different platforms might not cause any problem for established brands, but for you, who is just starting out, this will cost a lot. We can't just think about money itself. Running ads on different platforms requires you to analyze them all. This will cost you your time.

What is 'Customer Avatar'?

A 'Customer Avatar' is a detailed biodata of your ideal customer. This means that you know everything about that customer, who will definitely buy your product. By everything, we mean not just their name or email_id or their age. We need to know what they like, what hobbies they have, what is their future goals and many more. This will help you to decide which product in the future, you might be able to sell them. A 'Customer Avatar' also reduces your marketing cost. For example, you know that your customer likes to spend time on Twitter. This helps you to run ads only on Twitter, not on any other platform, consequently saving you time and money.

How to create 'Customer Avatar'?

In the beginning, you have to come up with your ideal 'Customer Avatar' because you don't have much traffic or data to create a realistic 'Customer Avatar' that will help you to generate sales. For example, let's go through my 'Customer Avatar' in the following points.
  • My customer name is Sayantan
  • He lived in India since childhood and his age is 22.
  • He has finished his undergraduate study recently.
  • He works in a company and has a monthly saving of two thousand rupees.
  • He wishes to learn new skills and develop himself professionally.
  • His hobbies include Playing Soccer, Listening to Music and reading news.
  • He wishes to travel the world.

As you can see, there is a lot of information about your customers. Creating a survey is the most ideal way to get these pieces of information. Below you will find a sample created by me.

You can create a similar sample in the google form with your google account for free of cost.
